Laying the Groundwork: Micah's Prep Process for a Concrete Pad

If only building projects were as easy as snapping your fingers and having the work done. The reality is, you've got to put in the effort—planning, prepping, and using the right tools and materials to make it all come together.

For this project, I set out to build a small concrete pad. The prep work may not be glamorous, but it's what makes the final result solid. My go-to? Power Pro ONE Screws because they work as both wood screws and concrete anchors. Instead of juggling multiple boxes of fasteners, I only need one.

Building the Frame

To get started, I used 2x4s to outline the perimeter of the pad. Using Power Pro ONE Screws, I secured boards to each other and to the side of the house, creating a strong frame.

Adding Support

Posts were driven into the ground to keep everything square and steady. These posts were also fastened with Power Pro ONE Screws, locking the frame into place and ensuring it could handle the weight of the pour.

Ready for Concrete

With the outline framed and supported, the prep work was complete. It's always suprising how much time and detail goes into even a small job, but the right screws kept the process simple and efficient.

Now, with the frame ready, it's time for the fun part: pouring the concrete.

Pro Tip: Work Smarter with Versatile Screws

When you're working on projects that involve both wood and masonry, choose a fastener that can handle both. Power Pro ONE Screws eliminate the need to buy separate boxes of wood screws and concrete anchors—saving you money, time, and space in your toolbox. Keep a box on hand, and you'll always be ready for whatever the project throws at you.
